3 iPhone Apps for your MIND, BODY, & SPIRIT

These three iPhone Apps won’t transport you to a smoky zen-like VW bus on its way to Zion, but they will drive you to a better work day and help you achieve balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit.
MIND (THINGS)

I was one of those people who had hundreds of little notes all around my house, notes that read things like “Electric Elephant Sundays.” I had many notes and lists that didn’t make any sense once I actually got around to reading them. I’m sure they made sense at the time I wrote them. I needed a way to get rid of the paper notes so I could keep my notes and lists organized, and also have them with me at all times.
Then, I found THINGS. It is the perfect solution because it allows you to organize your to-dos with Projects and Areas of Responsibility.
“Out of your head, out of your way.”
So how do I use THINGS? Let me give you an example: I just created a new to-do item called “Read More about WordPress 3″ in the to-do item’s notes. I put some links I want to read and then I clicked save. I marked this to-do item as “Today” because I want to do this today. “Today” items will show in my “Today” directory so I know what I want to do today. This all sounds really simple, but remember if you are writing notes like this 50 times a day on paper then you go back to “Electric Elephant Sundays.” And even if my writing is coherent and I scribble a note to read about WordPress 3 – the danger of the note never being read is very real.
Another great thing about THINGS is that the iPhone app syncs with the desktop app, so I always have my data with me and it is always the same. You will need to sync THINGS manually to your computer since it is a desktop app and the data is not stored in a cloud.
Bottom line, make a note to purchase THINGS. Then, make a note to thank me with homemade chocolate-chip cookies. You’re welcome:)
BODY(RunKeeper)

I love running around my neighborhood in Lakewood Ranch just as night is falling… no sun in my eyes, a slight breeze, and the sound of quiet. I have been building my distance and speed over some time now with the help of an iPhone App called Runkeeper.
“RunKeeper is an iPhone application that enables you to use the built-in GPS in your iPhone 3G to track all of your outdoor fitness activities, including duration, distance, pace, speed, elevation, calories burned, and path traveled on a map. You can store all of your historical activities on the RunKeeper website and share them with your friends!”
So how do I use it? I set my activity for running, pick my own music right from inside the app with the iPod integration and then hit “Start Activity.” Runkeeper will track my time, minutes per mile, calories, and total miles. Runkeeper also shows me a Google map of my run, how cool is that! I can see all my archived activities and upload them to share with my friend on the inter-webs.
Buy this app, even if you don’t run… it will give you a reason to start.
SPIRIT(Galaga)

Okay so sometimes you need a 5 minute break to unplug. A time to go to that happy place when you were a kid – the arcade! NO quarter required here, just $.99 more than what Lane Meyer owes the Paperboy and you are back in Galaga baby.
Galaga always makes me feel happy. I get to fly a space ship and shoot things… heaven. When I’m at work and I have someone way to loud in the other room, or someone sending me way too many links of stuff that I have already saw that day, I will just stop for a minute… breath… and play some Galaga. I highly suggest it for blowing off some steam and refilling the fountain of your spirit.
This app also come with a new version of the Galaga but, I love the classic.
The THINGS, Runkeeper and Galaga apps will help you ascend from this realm to the next by keeping you organized, fit, and kicking butt in a spaceship.
