Make this 4th of July Memorable… and Marketable
Wondering how to make the most of this 4th of July? Here are a few pointers on how to keep your brand in the foreground without taking too much time away from good food and a relaxing holiday weekend.
1. Add a Little Flair to Your Logo
A tried but nevertheless true marketing method. Take a cue from search engines like Google and temporarily customize your logo to fit the holiday. A little personalization never hurts—in fact, it’s a perfect way to showcase your web design savvy (be it playful or fervently patriotic). Alternatively, if you don’t want to spend the time, money, or effort to create something new, borrow from others. Free Independence Day backgrounds and wallpapers can be found all over the web.
2. Stay in View
Now that sites like MapQuest have added firework events to their databases, there’s no excuse for you not to take advantage of the festivities in your vicinity. If you own a commercial business (restaurants, entertainment venues, etc), be sure to check-in with geo social networks like Gowalla, Foursquare, and Twitter Places to let your customer base know you are in the area. If you have the wherewithal, you might even design a countdown app that directs users to your place of business post-fireworks.
3. Lights, Camera, and More Lights
There are several sites online that have generated “top ten” lists of 4th of July video recordings—and there’s no reason you can’t contribute. Go viral with your own pyrotechnic successes and/or mishaps, or start a promotional contest for your online audience. Still need more instruction? 4. Pay Tribute to Our Forefathers
Though much of the focus lies on nighttime spectacles and comfort food, it’s important not to forget the historical significance of the 4th.
