The atLarge Summer Reading List – Part 1

The long, lazy days of summer are here. But that doesn’t mean you can’t expand your horizons with a little inspiration. As you can imagine, digital marketing is pretty collaborative. Whether, we’re building a web site, online ad campaign or mobile app — there’s a constant exchange between programmers and designers, writers and strategists, clients and project managers. In addition to the verbal exchange, there’s also a lot of “inspiration swapping.” We’ve put together a compilation of our favorite “inspirations” for your browsing pleasure. Enjoy.

Corey’s Pick – Dinosaur Comics

Dinosaur Comics is a funny and intelligent comic featuring talking dinosaurs T-Rex, Utahraptor and Dromiceiomimus, covering subjects both silly and philosophical. Every comic uses the same artwork template, only the dialogue changes. It’s inspiring to me because it’s consistently good even within those tightly defined boundaries. It reminds me that working within a constrained form can still produce remarkable results. If you become a regular reader, note that each installment has at least two hidden easter eggs, one in the title tag seen by hovering over the comic itself, and one in the subject line of the contact email link.dino comics2 The atLarge Summer Reading List Part 1

Fred’s Pick – Smashing Magazine

Smashing Magazine is my many times a day twitter resource and inspiration fountain. If you’re a web designer or developer — or if your organization has a web site — check it out.smashing mag2 The atLarge Summer Reading List Part 1

Ayelen’s Pick – Give a Little: How Your Small Donations Can Transform Our World

I felt a call to make a bigger difference in the world. And this book was exactly what I needed. It was encouraging to read about individuals who improved the lives of hundreds and thousands of people. It was also a great guide for finding the right non-profit to lend my efforts to and (at the same time) what non-profits should be doing to affect change. The book revealed the harsh realities for many around the world but also empowered me to see the real change any individual can make.
