5 for Friday: Inside Our Morning Routines
How do we get into the atLarge work zone? Well, that depends on the atLarger of course. Here’s a preview into the morning routines of five atLargers in this week’s 5 for Friday.
Danny’s Morning Routine
Danny is an early riser. And if you happen to be one of his friends, you are too. That’s because he gets lonely on his morning commute from Tampa. Solution? Call all contacts from 7AM – 8AM to keep him company. His SRQ-bound officemates just love his morning wakeup calls.
Adam’s Morning Routine
Adam starts his day 30 minutes before the rest of the crew. Why? That’s how long it takes him to de-thaw from his caveman sleep stage. He opens all the shades to let some sunlight in. Then, he starts his computer and turns on his secret riser weapon: The Beatles. Come 8.30AM, he’s ready for conversation beyond more than just grunts.
Emily’s Morning Routine
I start the day with a one-on-one with my google calendar. We review due dates and set my priorities for the day. Then, I make a check list (kinda like Santa’s) so I can stay on track throughout the day. Or at least know when I’m being naughty or nice when it comes to productivity.
Rachel’s Morning Routine
Rachel amps up for the day with antioxidant-rich green tea and multivitamins before a quick yoga session on the conference table. Well, the tea and vitamin part are true. And, she does practice yoga–just not on the conference table. But boy would that make our meetings more interesting.
Nathan’s Morning Routine
Nathan knows the secret to a great day: a great breakfast. Most days, that includes Power Oatmeal. Here’s the recipe–add steel cut oats, dried fruit, nuts, a scoop of protein powder and water in a bowl. Nuke it for a minute and a half. While that’s cooking, start your fresh-pressed coffee with your French Press. Stroll back to your desk and face your emails as you nosh on a healthy breakfast. (Oh, and don’t forget to wash those breakfast dishes or Ms. Clean–Rachel, will karate chop you for leaving em’ in the sink. And thanks to her daily multivitamin–her moves have serious kick.)
