METI receives Web transplant to connect attendees with medical simulation conference
Medical Education Technologies, Inc.
Their patient simulators and medical education software are training cornerstones at institutions like the Mayo Clinic, Harvard University, Cornell University, Stanford University and even ABC's Grey's Anatomy. Currently, over 6,000 METI simulators are used at medical organizations around the world. METI also coordinates the Human Patient Simulation Network (HPSN) - the largest education, training and networking medical simulation community in the world.
Challenge
Make it easy for people to find, register and pay for courses from the world's largest medical simulation community -- the Human Patient Simulation Network (HPSN). Adding to the challenge was the complexity of not only multiple events but also multiple continents as conference destinations spanned North America, Europe and Asia. Visitors should also be able to access event information and submit workshop topics.
Solution
We created a seamless user experience that pushes visitors to the information they're seeking by using intuitive navigation, event labels and microsites. Once visitors find the courses they need, they can build their course schedule and pay for courses in less than three minutes. The registration system also accommodates those visitors tasked with making registrations for many attendees. Not only can attendees register and pay for their HPSN courses within minutes; would-be HPSN instructors can submit course materials and workshop topics online. And everyone can access the back story on industry news and course ideas through the new HPSN blog.
Result
HPSN has the online destination worthy of their breakthrough products and educational events. Online conference registrations and instructor-submitted workshops also increased. But the real gains are in usability. Visitors can quickly and easily navigate, register and pay for courses in the locations and subjects they need. And, with workflow automation and an easy to use Content Management System - the METI team can focus more on sharing simulation applications and less on paperwork. The HPSN team can also easily review instructor applications and workshop topics. Upon approval, the instructor-submitted workshops are automatically pushed to the Web site.
