Pet Project: Launching a new model for pet care

PawsPlus, Inc.

Premium pet care at affordable prices is what PawsPlus is all about. Together with its subsidiaries - Animal Health Services, VETCO and PawsVetcare brands, PawsPlus offers inexpensive vaccinations and wellness exams from licensed veterinarians through their pet clinics. They also sell low-cost pet care products online.

Challenge

Develop an online presence for the PawsPlus brands that builds relationships, e-commerce sales and clinic attendance. The Web sites also needed to integrate with the PawsPlus CRM for inventory management. Finally, the solution had to provide one dashboard that PawsPlus staff could access to make changes and add new products.

Solution

Since each of the PawsPlus brands offered different services, products and geographic clinic locations - separate Web sites were created for each PawsPlus affiliate. Though they were catered to their unique PawsPlus brand, each Web site featured a Pet Lifestyle Assessment and Clinic Locator. Many owners are unsure of their pet's vaccination needs so a Lifestyle Assessment was developed to make care recommendations based on a pet's age, habits and activity level. Within seconds after taking the interactive survey, visitors had recommendations and price estimates. Visitors could also quickly find nearby clinic locations and schedules by typing in their zip codes.

Result

PawsPlus customers who are already used to affordable clinic care are now saving big by ordering their pet medications online. They're saving time too. Since the Web sites are linked with the PawsPlus CRM, when customers log into their PawsPlus accounts - their pet records (including prescriptions) are automatically verified making it possible for orders to ship much sooner than PawsPlus' competitors. New visitors are also finding the sites and converting to PawsPlus for their online and offline pet care needs. In addition, the PawsPlus team now has the tools to easily add or remove products and make site updates.
