Van Wezel Foundation.
The Van Wezel Foundation hired ATLARGE to create a strategic communications roadmap seeking to educate and engage the community as to what a new multi-venue center will bring to the region, while inspiring support to rally towards a “YES” vote on September 6th for The Bay master plan which incorporates a new performing arts center as the cultural gem of the 53 acres.

Aligning a Goal.
During our initial meetings, we found that the Van Wezel Foundation, along with the city employers who run the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, were aligned in supporting The Bay master plan and were seeking to build a financial and governance model simultaneously that would blend both institutions under one operating structure for the future multi-venued performing arts center. Our immediate goal was to educate and engage the community about the benefits of the new performing arts center while inspiring community support for the project. Under the current complex institutional structure, our recommendation to the Foundation was to align the unified messaging under one centralized brand that would help bolster community support while telling a compelling story for the future center.
The project’s strategic communications roadmap needed a fresh, new brand to help activate community support. Riding on the positive work and support taking shape through the master planning process, the Foundation leveraged their partnership with The Bay and launched Sarasota Performing Arts Center for an audience-aligned initiative. ATLARGE was able to develop, design, and launch the site in only a few short days to leverage community involvement and awareness in a short timeframe. During that time, several alignment meetings with The Bay team were conducted to help ensure the community stood behind the new performing arts center as the cultural gem of the master plan during the City Commission vote on September 6th.
A comprehensive strategic communications plan continued to take shape following the launch of the new Sarasota Performing Arts Center. Audiences were defined with specific goals for each of those audiences. A phased approach was launched including both internal and external communications to gain support for their vision of the new center, while educating the community and rallying support for the commission vote in early September.
